Regular Decision: U of Chicago, NYU, Brown?

What are my chances of getting in? :/

GPA: 3.76
SAT: 1930-1950
ACT: 28
Classes: All Honors (Freshman & Sophomore–We don’t have AP classes for these years) All AP (Junior)

Schools:
Brown
U of Chicago
NYU
Wash U.
Emory
Northwestern

Reason:
My freshmen year grades weren’t too great, because, I had just moved from NJ to AL (I had lived in NJ for almost all of my life); my mom had gotten remarried and I was totally opposed to moving. I was a little hateful, to say the least. Also, I go to a college prep school, technically all of our classes starting freshmen year are college-level. Switching from public school to my current school was really difficult. I realized I wasn’t as smart as I thought I was.

thanks!

Given your SAT and ACT scores, all of these schools are reaches, with most being very high reaches

You really should add some safeties to that list. Matches also.

How many times have you taken ACT? Can you up that? Give a brief non whiny explanation on common app re transition. They’ll understand.

I’d disagree with murphy. Don’t try to make excuses for your poor grades. You have no legitimate excuse. Family death, illness, etc. are are legitimate. Being mad at mom/moving really isn’t.
