thanks!!! just submitted!!!
feel like i hove no more control!!!
sigh…no more essays…rock on!

I submitted mine a few days ago.
But I succumbed to the urge of re-looking over my application essays, and now I’m not so certain about myself. :frowning:
Maybe it’s just my mind playing tricks on me.

I could never look over my essays again. I press submit and have not looked back.

Hey so I submitted my Brown app, but I’m still not exactly sold. I’m pretty conservative, and I’ve heard that Brown has a really liberal student body in general. What do you people think- would it be better for me to go to a different school, or no. Also, students at Yale are called Yalies, so does that mean that students at Brown are called…Brownies??
Thanks all!

haha. brownies would be awesome =) A veggiegirl-I think you will be able to find people who hold the same beliefs as you no matter where you go…if it matters to you whether youre in the minority…then maybe reconsider? But honestly, if you like everything else about the school, go for it. Even if the student body is GENERALLY liberal, doesn’t mean there aren’t conservatives too  I’m conservative on some issues, if we get in we’ll have to meet and talk about those dang liberals  :stuck_out_tongue: :D

oh geez, but that brings up the scary issue of getting in…:frowning: self confidence is through the basement right now.

hahaha through the basement yepp that describes my sentiments pretty accurately right now. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
but yeah def on that. I’ve wanted to go to brown forever, esp in their PLME but then i started being not so sure…
ahhhh!!!

I’ve been called a Brownie (I call anyone who calls me that a Pastry, but…), so I guess that nickname is used?

At this point, wait and see what happens. I wouldn’t let being conservative stop you from attending if you are accepted and really like the rest of Brown. I myself am moderate, and while I have fun making from of the extremists in both directions, I know some conservatives and they really seem to be enjoying themselves. One said that he’s glad he could get a different perspective by being in a traditionally liberal portion of the country. You’ll find people, and you may be surprised at the people with whom you become friends. But as said above, if you’re going to be bothered by being in the minority, then it may be worth considering your other options (most colleges are pretty liberal, though)

We’re called Brownies but more often “Brunonians” (which is pretentious when not used as a joke, in my opinion, but hey!). Some people just say “Brown students” or make tasteless jokes. o.O

Anyway. About the political concerns: to echo Uroogla, I’d say that Brown’s student body is overwhelmingly liberal. However (and bear in mind that I’ve had only one semester here, so I could be very wrong), I’ve yet to see the entire (or even 80%) of the campus get up in arms about a political issue. People are aware of what is going on in the world and debate it constantly, but even so, there is a wide range of perspectives. Although I am very liberal and come from a city even more liberal than Providence, I have friends from all the country and world who have different beliefs, backgrounds, and experiences to inform their perspectives. Some of my friends are conservative and/or deeply religious, but they still love Brown just as much as everyone else. Perhaps they struggle to voice their opinions from time to time, but, for the most part, they don’t seem uncomfortable making their views heard.

Awesome thanx all yah Brownies. ;p
I think I’d seriously consider it regardless with the potential of receiving a title like that. hahaha

submitted mine close to midnight whoo, and it’s been downloaded already!!!
everyone see that yet?

I’ve submitted mine a while back and i haven’t received my credentials to access my checklist on the Brown site. How long those it take to get the email ? I have already received it from my other schools that i applied to. :/

First post dedicated to my most beloved university that I hoped of getting in by lottery:)

^I have an it is amazing! Though I actually felt kinda good about myself after I submitted my application…that can’t be bad, right?..

To veggiegirl007-Don’t worry about the political stances. What if there is some differences, that just makes for a more lively debate and better understanding… And if nothing else, I’m sure you’ll find some conservatives out there( such as, hopefully, me!). Relax, everything will be fine.

Just click where it says that you forgot the password and it will give the login, I did it like that and I received the login info after that. fill out the info in the https://webapps.brown.edu/pwdreset</a> and where it says the security question just put an SPACE. you will get it!
