Rehearsal dinner decorations question

What about blue or green hydrangeas? I think either color would look beautiful in that venue.

I agree, one color with white/cream accent pieces to stick in, like baby’s breath, plus the greenery. Peach may be very pretty. My fear is finding enough one color flowers the day I’m going to arrange them (like at Trader Joe’s)

Not directed at OP, just posting here because I think some might want to use this technique as an inspiration!

Sorry, don’t mean to comment so often here.

No harm in calling your Trader Joe’s and see what they can do. For D’s wedding she learned that she could call and talk to their floral person and request certain colors/type of flowers for her large expected purchase. The person couldn’t guarantee them, but she could for instance order extra ranunculus for that day - or more peach colored flowers - she couldn’t set them aside for you but basically said, "when I know what our supplier has that week, I will order # extra of that flower/color - be here when the store opens and you have first dibs) - they even gave her flower buckets to gather them in.

They had PLENTY to choose from. When you call just tell them it’s for a wedding or big event… maybe all the TJ’s don’t do this but it’s becoming more popular!

Also if you’re on TikTok or YouTube there are lots of simple videos showing how to make simple arrangements from TJ’s flowers.

Since you asked -I am team real greenery for garlands/ tables or no greenery at all (except in vases) for something like this. Ruscus is a nice, easy to work with, and also not expensive real greenery option you can buy by stem or in a garland. Online many options and sometimes the warehouse stores have it or you can order it on their sites or others for delivery on a certain day. If you are back to one or two colors Costco bulk flowers may be an option - Sam’s club often has nice flowers too, and maybe Ruscus is available thru them.

See what the floral department at your local grocery store can do for you in terms of ordering the flowers you want. We had excellent luck with them actually for,our wedding flowers. We had an amazing florist. But they also ordered some extra flowers for us for 7 vases of flowers. Hydrangea…and they were beautiful.

See if Sam’s Club still has bulk flowers. They used to…and would ship to you.

Pink and brown go well together.

I agree, it’s the ugly mustard chairs that are throwing me. I’m overthinking it. I’m sure pink and white will look fine if I go that way. No one is going to notice that.

No one is going to notice the chairs. They are going to notice the beautiful tables.

Chiming in here on color- is there a color pallet for the wedding that you could carry through for the flowers.
Also, mason jars can be lovely - put in flowers, tie a colored ribbon around the neck and they look great!

Just found this on Amazon -

I guess lots of people are doing arrangements in mason jars!

Pretty venue! It is already done in a nature theme with grass and boughs for lighting. Does the restaurant have candles for their tables? If not I’d go for LED candles–battery operated to go on each table. Battery because getting them lit otherwise turns into actual work. Candles would add an extra ambiance if the house lights can be dimmed.
I wouldn’t do flowers in this space–plus it may take too much table room. More fun are fairy lights in a vase or jar.

I guess we are slackers. We paid for rehearsal lunch. It was a 7 course meal at a Chinese restaurant. There were only two tables and honestly, no space for decorations. For favors, I filled tiny ziplock bags with a favorite dessert S and DIL love and gave one to each guest.

I have never had a problem asking the TJ’s manager to special order or set things aside for me. Last year I needed 15 small pots of ā€œsomething pinkā€ for a shower-- plus a ā€œlarger versionā€ for the buffet table. I asked the manager of my local TJ’s for help- she showed me pictures on her tablet of both small rose bushes in pale pink and celadon plants in a deep pink. I told her they were both fine-- but I was nervous about them not being there when I picked them up the morning of the shower ( a Sunday). She assured me that the service desk would be expecting me.

And there they were- 15 small pots of fuschia/magenta celadons, and a large centerpiece sized deep pink hydrangea AND a rose bush. (manager couldn’t get a large enough celadon so she subbed in). And a note ā€œSorry I’m not working today, hope everything works out beautifullyā€.

Since then I pretty much always order ahead of time. Need three hydrangea branches in deep blue for a dinner party? Call ahead. I needed 10 of those tiny cactus/succulent plants for a cousins event- the hostess wanted to stick place cards in them and put me in charge of finding them. Easy peasy.

Good luck!
