Rejected ED elsewhere, any chance here?

I was just thinking of something. I was rejected ED from Columbia; Does that basically spell doom for a Yale ( or harvard) acceptance?

Have you ever heard of anyone rejected ED from somewhere that wasnt HYP and then get into HYP?

( BTW-for anyone who replies Columbia is a great school, I know that, but admissions wise, HYP is more selective. Thats why I’m asking this?

I wouldnt think it would eliminate your chances at other schools…maybe you just didnt fit the molde at Columbia but you may fit in at HYP.

I know of a someone who is deferred at Cornell who just got a likely letter from Dartmouth.

Perhaps Columbia needs a sitar player and you play the tuba. Princeton or Harvard might need tuba players. I think as long as you are a good candidate you’re chances are as good at each school. Rejected by one does not mean doomed by all.

Just from reading the posts from the thread, Columbia seemed like a total massacre this year for ED. Don’t give up hope freakish, I still think you have a decent chance.

According to a NY Times article ~1.5 years ago, a top NJ HS senior was rejected ED by P, and accepted at H & has been attending there happily since.
