Rejected ED to Cornell, now bad 1st semester grades, do I need to rethink?

First quarter my grades looked like
AP Lang: A
AP Calc: A
AP Stats: A
AT/organic chem 2: A
AP Physics C: B
Spanish 5H: A
AP Gov: A

But after just taking all of my midterms, I think that I may have 3-4 Bs. I want to apply regular to many top schools still such as Tufts, Dartmouth, Johns Hopkins, Colgate, and NYU stern. I have good test scores and a decent bit of extracurriculars, but if I just got rejected from Cornell with good grades, do I even bother applying to most of those schools?

So you’re giving up because you have a B? How would you react when you receive a grade lower than an A in college?

OP, it’s not the end of the world. That no doubt will hurt at some schools. Do you have a safety on your list that you would be HAPPY to attend and can definitely AFFORD it? If so then you’re fine. If not then you need to get one or two.

It is fine to apply to those schools, as long as you have other options at schools with less competitive admissions that appear affordable and that you would be happy to attend.
