Rejected UChicago EDI [If rejected in ED, how did you do in RD at other schools?]

Curious, did this happen to anyone else and how did it turn out? I have a 4.0, 1550+ SAT, and am full-pay. I’m really worried about Regular Decision.

Did anyone else get rejected ED1?

Hmmmm. Of course.

It will work out based on how you built your list.

If appropriately then great. No need to worry.

If all Chicago subs then perhaps not.

Are you domestic ? If so they are need blind.

Students are more than a gpa and test.

And students that only apply to a certain 30 schools can be studs and strike out. That’s poor list building.

Perhaps do a chance me.

Were you rejected or deferred?

Oh I assumed they meant RD elsewhere given the title.

Oh, I didn’t realize they were need-blind domestically

I have several safeties I’ve already gotten into and am happy with, so my question was more wondering how UChicago rejects did on the RD round with other “reach” schools. Sorry that wasn’t clear in the original post.

We know nothing about you. Can you do a chance me.?

For all I know you have zero rigor or activities.

That you already got into schools you’d be happy to attend is AWESOME.

No reason to worry.

You have eaten the cake - whether it has icing or not.

The site linked below places the University of Chicago as the fourth most selective school in the nation. A denial at this rarefied level should not be of particular concern as long as you have included somewhat less selective choices on your college list.

Hopefully you applied UF. You’ll get in. Asks it’s rated higher.

Kidding. Sort of.

I would not take this rejection as a sign that you will have bad luck with your RD applications to other schools. UChicago is just highly rejective, a rejection does not mean you were not a strong applicant.

I agree with others above who say that building a good list is important for ALL applicants. It sounds like you are already accepted at some schools that you would be happy attending, so everything else is gravy.

Best wishes!

A friend of my son applied ED to Chicago and I think was deferred and then waitlisted in RD. He got into and now attends Yale. He got into and waitlisted from other schools that are considered competitive as well. I don’t know anything else about him or his circumstances other than what I just shared.

College admissions is not a hierarchical or linear process. What one college thinks is just ok, another school thinks is fantastic based on their respective cultures and/or needs/priorities at the time of admissions.
