Do University reject some students because they doubt their ability to afford the cost?
Need aware universities can and will reject applicants that require a substantial amount of financial aid to attend. If applying to any University, you can check their financial aid policies. Do you have specific schools in mind?

Thank you, taking this point in consideration for building my list. working progress so don’t have my schools list yet. Got SAT on Saturday that will be another major input
If you are accepted and don’t receive enough financial aid to attend, you really aren’t in a better position than you would be if you’d just been rejected. Be realistic when making your list. Most schools do not fully meet the financial need of all students.
