Not quite the same thing, but in my home country medical graduates have to complete a year of community service before they are licensed to practice independently, and this often involves sending them to severely under-resourced rural (and sometimes urban) areas (public health system). Itβs quite an eye-opener for many of them, especially compared to the first-world private facilities many of them are used to.
I love this. Itβs exactly what we need to properly calibrate the perspective of our young adults.
