I’ve noticed everyone on here posts their statistics and whatnot in the “chance me” threads. Almost every time, that person has a good chance. However, as we know, only about 50%-55% get in. So, I’m wondering, do the people that get rejected just not come on here? Or will half of our essays be bad and half of us will get rejected? Thanks for everyone’s input.

Lol do you realize that the entire applicant pool is not on here? You wont find individuals from the 25th pecentile of an applicant pool on CC. I mean you could, but they’d be an anamoly. The reason chances are always seen as high on this site is because only truly driven or high achieving students usually take the time to thoroughly investigate academic matters. Remember: CC is a misrepresentation of the entire applicant pool. The sampling of students done here is not an accurate indicator of a pool’s strength unless you’re only looking at top tier schools. I don’t mean to generalize the CC population…but, let’s be honest here.

^He beat me to it. Yeah, you wouldn’t really find people who aren’t as committed to wanting to go to UW here. Those who work hard in high school, wanting to go to a good college, are those usually seen in academic sites like this.

haha I think what I’m suffering from is “CC syndrome”. Yah, I do know that it is really only about 3% of the applicant pool.

I would echo the aforementioned sentiments about the sample population that is being drawn from.

On top of that, I think a lot of people on the UW thread in particular are a little too generous with their chancing. Just my opinion.
