Relative GPA

Do colleges usually look at past students that applied and were accepted/deferred/denied from your school and rely on that solely to consider your grades? Or is their approach to grades more open-minded?

I have excellent grades (as far as I know top two percent in my class) but I worry they fail to meet the standards set by past top college students at my school. My grade ran into a few bumps that lowered the average GPAs for the top our class compared with past years. Therefore my GPA is very competitive compared to the valedictorian and salutatorian of my grade.

I do not want to get blindsided if my grades do not meet certain expectations!

Thanks for your help.

Bump, please. Just looking for help!

They don’t compare you to prior classes.
