religious life

how is religious life at princeton, specifically for an evangelical christian protestant? i hear this is one of the more conservative ivies…how realistic is that characterization?

Yes, Princeton is one of the most conservative Ivies. However, the school is still predominantly liberal, although hard-core political activism is a rarity. According to unscientific estimates, the student body is about 50 % liberal, 25 % moderate, and 25 % conservative. Basically, unless you want your college to be a bastion of liberalism or conservativism, anyone can feel comfortable at Princeton.

Although as a Jew I can’t give you specifics on the Christian life, there are several major Christian organizations on campus, the ones I’ve heard most about being Manna Christian Fellowship and the Princeton Evangelical Fellowship. For more information, there is an office of religious life that would probably be helpful.

Princeton has one of the strongest evangelical Christian communities of just about any secular school period. There are so many activities you will have to be a good manager of your time for everything else. PEF has strong alumni funding and has two full time Pastors on staff just for Princeton. If you are a perspective with a good chance of admission I would email one of the PEF interns to arrange an overnight.

There are even Sunday evening services in the beautiful chapel.
