<p>It sounds like a fine essay. The program is broken down, as you probably know, into three areas, one of which is specifically historical studies. One can use two courses from other departments to meet the concentration requirements. There are many that would fit your interest in origins. You will also have many electives from which to choose as well. You may want to take a close look at the Oriental Institute as well. It offers many programs directed toward studying early religions.</p>
