Remember, Remember the 17th of December

Fueled by boredom and anxiety, I decided to peruse the Wikipedia page and see what other important events took place on December 17th. On that day in 1903, the Wright brothers made their first successful flight in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina (good omen for Aero/Astro hopefuls). Also on this day in 2010, a protester in Tunisia set himself on fire leading to the events of the Arab Spring. It’s kind of comforting to know that no matter how Earth-shattering tomorrow might be for some of us, the Earth is still going to keep spinning. Saturday, December 17, 2011 is just another day. And there will be many more days to follow, regardless of our decisions. Good luck, guys!

Thanks for this post, it definitely was informative and helped put things in perspective.

Unfortunately, on this day in 1862, Grant ordered the expulsion of Jews from 3 states.

on that day one year ago my country knew a turning point in its history that changed the arab world for ever!!
However, i don’t think that is the best reason, the wright’s first flight must be the reason for choosing that day!

I’m thinking it’s the Wright brother’s thing(My last name is Wright, maybe that’s a hint for me. Lol) Is anyone else having rampant mood swings? Like some moments, I feel like I’m going to get in and others I’m feeling like a rejecting is coming.

I’m pretty sure MITChris knows he’s just feeding an addiction at this point. What can I say? It’s in our nature to apply meaning to random events. After all, if you can’t obsessively invent patterns and reasons behind trivial details, then you’ll never make it in show biz. Happy O Sapientia Feast Day, by the way.

My husband went to a black-tie dinner in Washington, DC, this evening in honor of the Wright Brothers’ flight. He met three astronauts! :)

well, Carbon’s atomic mass is 12.0107 and without the 0’s it’s 12.17- maybe that’s why?
