<p>I have an instance on my academic record that I believe will hurt my chances seriously in college applications. The situation was that in my freshman art class, were were screen-printing, and I accidentally took someone else’s unlabeled work from the drying rack. I had no Idea the work wasn’t mine, as we made 20-30 prints that week, and it was from the same original painting. When the teacher confronted me, I admitted to the accident, and returned the work. He cited that he believes I was trying to steal the artwork to sell for money. I ended up having this put on my permanent record. How would I go about trying to get this “Stain” on my record removed. Who would I talk to? what should I say?</p>
<p>I would talk directly to the administration. For me that would mean speaking with my guidance counselor and potentially my princepal and vice princepal. I think you should also bring your parents in because sometimes what I have found with dealing with my school’s administration is that it’s really more effective to bring your parents in when you need to get something done.</p>
<p>Honestly, the time to fight these things is when they happen. That’s a pretty big step for a teacher to make that accusation when the situation as you describe iit sounds llike an easy mistake to make. If the school system mishandled it, have your parent’s talk to the principal.</p>
