Removing the echo from a graduation vidoe recording

I have a video recording of my D’s graduation, and it is impossible to here much of anything as it has sounds from two speakers from both sides of the field.

Is it possible to remove the reverb from the recording?

bump bump bump

Being married to a guy whose doctoral research was all in sound engineering and manipulation, and having seen him do stuff like this, it would likely be very difficult to scrub out all the extra sound and be left with just the initial sound signal. I can check with him… My guess is that it would either be flat-out impossible, or very, very expensive (eg, send it to Los Angeles and have professional sound techs work on it for three days). I presume this was recorded on a consumer-grade camcorder…?

Thanks for replying aibarr,

yes it was recorded on a consumer-grade camcorder. My daughter gave a speech, and it is sad that we couldn’t hear much. The graduation event was on a football field, and they had two speakers at both sides of the field. You would here the sound from the second speaker with a fraction of a second delay.

Any ideas welcome.
