Renaissance Women/Men

Interests and strenghts that run in families made me think of people who have achieved fame/fortune in one field, who then change fields or in the case of those in the arts- go back and forth from music/writing/painting etc.

Brian May, an astrophysicist and chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University was also known as lead guitarist for the rock band Queen.

Steve Martin who began as a stand up comic and writer, has expanded into acting, playwriting and juggling and won awards for his work on the banjo.

Several people have switched over to politics after careers in other fields.
Jesse Ventura, Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger started as a Austrian American bodybuilder, who expanded into acting ( I first saw him in * Stay Hungry* with Jeff Bridges in 1976).

Many of us change goals and interests not to mention careers more than once in a lifetime- & I think the trend of trying to steer students into interest tracks in high school-leaves them SOL when the work world changes faster than they can adapt to it.
