My global entry renewal took 3+ months, I applied in mid- February and received my new card last week.
I recently reapplied. None of my information had changed and I was renewed without an interview within two weeks. My husband applied at the same time. He is still waiting for any notification beyond "conditional approval"and it’s been about 6 weeks.
I am going to have to give D1 heads up because she travels overseas for work quite a bit, so her renewal may take longer.
I got my new card in the mail and just need to activate it. If that works then I will say that the third party renewal system saved me a lot of stress. I’ll let everyone know.
I applied for Global Entry a couple of months before my PreCheck expired. Not soon enough, I’m still waiting to be approved for an interview. Guess I’ll stay home a while.
Not renewing, but applying for the first time.
Me: Applied 24 April, approved to schedule interview 19 August
DD: Applied 5 August, approved to schedule interview 9 August.
Huh? She’s lived about 20 places the last 6 years, and had multiple jobs and has never been in any TTP program. I’ve lived in the same place for 20 years and had TSA preCheck. But really, I’m happy for her. And since I can get an interview in her city much sooner than in mine, I have a trip planned now. Yay!
I just applied – interview is December 2nd. No interviews at National Airport or BWI. Huh!!!
My husband and I renewed at about the same time. For whatever reason, he was required to have another interview; I was not. Still, it took a few weeks to get the renewal.
@CountingDown, in this area interviews are at Dulles or the Reagan Building downtown.
In our state, it’s all at a building in Honolulu airport, so folks who live elsewhere have to fly to Honolulu for the interview and fingerprinting and photos.
@mominva, it comes up as “no appointments available” – so I’m guessing they are booked through the end of the year, considering Dulles now has appointments in December.
We scheduled our interview for Calais, Maine, so we wouldn’t have to drive to Boston. As luck would have it, there was a big snowstorm that day. Driving through an isolated part of the state during a blizzard was probably not the smartest thing.
Also, some airports have walk-in opportunities. I know someone who did the in person part at a less busy airport when traveling for work.
You could look for a place you would like to visit where there is availability too. A nice trip and pop in for the interview. It really does not take long.
An article in The Points Guy about the wait times at various airports. https://thepointsguy.com/guide/how-long-global-entry-interview/?tid=curated_04&utm_uniqid=db8a4345f6&utm_source=TPG+Daily+Newsletter&utm_campaign=14e274a741-TPG_Curated_Daily_Newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_2b0b8ee2b7-14e274a741-44635885
All good with my Global Entry. It cost and additional $60.00 to have a third party do it but it was money well spent. They even activated it for me. They’re located in Newport, California if interested. Saved me a lot of stress.
I checked anywhere I might go to this fall (via plane, car or otherwise) and no dice. Had no idea that I could walk off the plane and do the interview until DH told me after our flight home from vacation. If he’d told me that three months earlier, that would have been useful! I don’t expect to fly the rest of this year, so I think it will be ok.
I applied few months ago for renewal and I still haven’t heard back from them. They also do not have any contact information. Very frustrated.
I applied for the first time and I waited and waited and waited. It was not until 4 months(maybe even 5) later before I recieved an email ask me to get interviewed the next time I enter US. That was a real bummer. Do you have to go out of the US in order to get Global Entry Interview and Approval?
When we applied for Global Entry in HI (where we live), we heard back within one or two weeks and could schedule an appointment within a month from when we applied. It was in our home city.
The appointment was short, mainly to watch a short video, answer a few questions, photos and fingerprints I believe. We hadn’t left the country between when we applied and when we had our appointment and approval.
