Rent-A-Center

If all these alternatives to live with less are unacceptable, how about finding another AirBnB?

It doesn’t make sense to double pay for housing when we’re already paying for a lease.
We rented a few things from CORT and bought some air mattresses. My breakfast dining set was cracked 4 yrs ago during another nightmare military move, so Dh bought me a new set yesterday for the new house. Hopefully that arrives Monday and we’ll just get rid of the old set when it arrives.

My brother rented from CORT and would recommend them.

I lived on an egg crate mattress pad and a card table and chairs for over a month when I cleared out my mom’s 3 bedroom house (things sold a lot faster than I expected) - I was 50, and it was odd but doable.

If I was in the OPs situation I wouldn’t buy (or rent) anything I wasn’t planning to keep…especially if I had a house full of furniture coming.

An ikea cafe table & chairs and maybe an inexpensive bed might work.

When I 1st moved into my apartment, I lived on a mattress on the ground of my vinyl floor after graduating from a folding foam futon mattress. I also had a dresser and a few folding chairs and a folding card table. It worked fine until gradually I acquired more. The aerobeds are a more comfortable option but my set up worked fine for months.

I’d get on Craigslist and just look for cheap basics

If you read the article the lawsuits involve customers who fell behind in payments and others who didn’t return merchandise. Their collection tactics leave something to be desired for sure but for a short term rental if you don’t fall behind on payments you’d be totally fine.

@ChaosParent23, instead of renting, why not buy a cheap mattress, boxspring, and frame? Every decent-sized city has a cheapo bed company that will sell a set for about $200. It won’t be the most comfortable set and it won’t last forever, but it should suit you for a month.

And for the washer/dryer, I’d just go to a laundromat until my set arrived. If you find that impossible, buy a used pair. Once again, every decent-sized city has several used appliance stores. You can buy a set for $100 and have it delivered for $60 more.

This stuff is temporary. It doesn’t have to match the quality of your stuff in storage. When your furniture arrives, list the stuff you bought as a stopgap on FreeCycle and someone will come pick it up soon enough.

I’d get an air mattress — either one to use for house guests eventually, or one to use for camping.

For chairs & tables, I’d look for foldable camping chairs or inexpensive Target patio furniture to eventually use outside.

I’d be fine with a good book and the laundry mat.

It would make a good story!
