Rent and other bills on FAFSA

where, if it is at all possible, do I add in rent and other bills on the financial aid form?

You don’t, FAFSA does not ask for costs of living, only asets & income & details of the components of those. CSS profile should have a place for housing and some schools may ask on their own form.

O.K. - So what exactly does this question ask for,…

$__________ MONEY RECIEVED, OR PAID ON YOUR BEHALF (E.G., BILLS), NOT PREPARED ON THIS FORM.

LOL, i’m so confused!!! I thought that might possibly be where I would put rent that I pay to show how poor I am living paycheck to paycheck.

That is a question asking you to report money paid on your behalf by other people. Let’s say you had an agreement that someone else would pay your rent. Then you would report that in answer to this question. The question is confusing.

Ahhhhh, ok tyvm! Now, one more question and I’ll leave everyone alone (for a while) I have an EFC of 0, is there a range between how much aid I might possibly be offered??

Yeah there’s a range, I guess. 100% gift aid for full cost of attendance at the top end of the range. This would be for the most generous schools and ones that want you the most. Down to 10-20% gift aid and the rest huge loans, work study and a summer earnings gap.

Cool, not too bad then. Does it matter if it is a local Community College?

I was just thinking of revising my last post but you beat me to it. With an EFC of 0, at minimimum you will get federal Pell and SEOG aid of 4-5 thousand per year, which could easily cover 100% of the cost at a community college.

Thank-you Thank-you soooooooo much (muah-kisses) you’ve been so much help!

OK, last question, i promise, my friend’s EFC is 2156, she is also going to a community college. Will she qualify for aid as well as the Pell and SEOG?? And if so, what are the possible amouts she could recieve, and or have to pay out of her pocket?

IF your friends EFC is 2156, then this means they will pay aprox $2,156 out of pocket.

They will be eligible for Pell and depending on the school, SEOG but she would not get as much as a student who has a “0” Efc

OK, so that means that she would pay that money out, but would that be for the semester of for the entire school year?? Or how would that go??

For the entire school year

OK, thank you very much :)

In regards to counting on FSEOG , the sooner you file that FAFSA , the more chance of you getting it because unlike PELL, each college only gets a certain amount of FSEOG ( and federal work-study ) to dole out in certain percentages and it runs out fast . PELL is a surer thing .
