If yes, what car rental agency operates out of there?

Does anyone know if you can rent a car at Union Station in New Haven?

If yes, what car rental agency operates out of there?

Of course, it is one of the busiest train stations in the United States. You could start by calling Avis, Budget, Enterprise, and Hertz or just showing up at the station. Just like any train station, the hours of operation of the desk service may be somewhat limited, or the cars may be sold out, so it would be a good idea to call and make arrangements.

You could also use ZipCar, which has cars stationed all over New Haven that can be rented at any hour for about $6 per hour including gas.

Thanks for stating the obvious. I was looking for a little “local” information as to which rental car company operated at the train station, which you obviously do not have.

What is your problem? He did answer your question… Union Station at New Haven has Avis and Budget and Enterprise and Hertz. He also gave you some great “local” information about ZipCar…

They all “operate” there. But it is still worth calling to confirm the time and making a reservation in advance. Even though Avis and others have a desk/phone at the station, it might only be staffed until 7pm or so. Hertz probably does not keep too many cars right at the station, but they have a large rental center just a block away. Same with some of the other rental car companies - they’re all located within a few blocks. No matter who you use, I’m sure they will be happy to pick you up or deliver your car for you, especially if you arrange it in advance.

Excuuusssseee me for improperly phrasing the question, which should have been which car rental company has a complete operation at the train station, meaning a rental counter and actual rental cars.

I thought perhaps someone knew the answer, but apparently not, so I did my own research - it is Avis. The others are some distance away, such as Hertz. I have rented from Hertz in New Haven before and was forced to return the car to Tweed Airport, because the in-town location closed at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and was completely closed on Sunday - returning the car was a complete pain in the butt. Likewise, Enterprise is also closed on Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday.

Hi, can anyone help advise a parent from sunny Honolulu what the driving conditions are from new haven to Worcester in MA. I am unfamiliar with the weather and driving conditions at this time of the year. Will I have to worry about extreme snow conditions.

There are weather vagaries but how can anyone predict whether or not any snow will be on the ground? As for “extreme”, it’s highly unlikely. March is time for thawing and melting. Bring or rent a GPS – just to make it easier on yourself.

Try this when it comes close to your travel time:

One more comment, try starting a new thread rather than digging up an old thread that has a title that doesn’t reflect your question, you might get more people to help out.

Best of luck with your trip. I’ll be college visiting in the mid-west this month too, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for daffodils rather than snow drifts!

Honumom, I pm’d you but the messages got crossed and I sent 2 very similar messages. Anyway, the link entomom provided is excellent. I’ll be using that one myself. Thank you, entomom!
