<p>I made less then 4,000 this year (from a summer job) I filed my taxes for the first time. Do I need to state this on my FAFSA? I'm scared that the aid will be less this year due to this. I am also my mother's dependent.</p>
<p>Yes, you have to report it for FAFSA…there is an automatic update option directly from the IRS system this year. Answer both the AGI question and the income earned from work question - they’re both important in the calculations. But you don’t have to worry about it impacting your EFC because dependent students have an income protection allowance of $5250 and you’re well below that level.</p>
