How often does the collegeboard cancel scores over minor infractions? I forgot to put my calculator back on the ground during my second test (a science) and was written up for it. According to the policies on the collegeboard website, minor infractions only “may” result in getting my scores cancelled…? Are they just being generous with their wording? Am I essentially guaranteed to have my scores cancelled, even over something as small as this? I called the CB twice: the first rep I talked to said that it is rare that the CB cancels scores-- if scores are cancelled it’s only over serious things like copying or cellphone-use during the exam. The second rep was kind of awkward and just said to read the policies on the website (which I already did).
I wouldn’t sweat it. Something minor like that usually won’t get your scores canceled.
Has anyone ever had scores cancelled because of something like this? (Appearing like they are) using a calculator on a non-calculator subject test? Wearing ear plugs? Working in the wrong section?
ETS has been painted in my head like it’s this menacing, merciless organization that cancels all scores at the drop of a pin… please tell me that’s not true!
Bump?
You’ll be fine.
No worries, nothing should happen. Had my calculator on my desk before, but the proctor simply asked me to put it on the ground. Your scores may be delayed at worst.
