Reporter Seeks Students with Perfect SATs/ACTs

My name is Julia Prodis Sulek. I am a reporter for The Mercury News in San Jose, and I have received permission from College Confidential to post here. I am interested in interviewing students who earned perfect scores on their ACT or SAT and how that affected their admission to highly selective schools. If this is you, did you get in or were you rejected from your top school choice? Which schools? Please describe in the following thread which test you earned the top score and how you feel about how it affected your college admissions.

MODERATOR’S NOTE: This reporter DOES have permission to post here.

Hi! I am a gap-year student who earned a 36 on her ACT last year (2017). Last year I felt like my grades (4.0UW/4.6W) and my score helped cement my acceptances to a few colleges, such as UC Berkeley, UCLA, and USC. However, I did not feel like it had much of an effect at ivy-tier schools other than perhaps drawing a bit more consideration. I was rejected by all my top schools (all ivies sans Dartmouth). This year, during my applications, I still don’t feel like it was a large factor. It was definitely my new job experience that made the difference and got me into Caltech, MIT, and Rice.

Thanks @iRiven.I’ll private message you.
