similar q? and should the kids report 3’s on their common app? especially if they self-studied and took the ap exam outside of the school since the school does not offer any AP’s.
3s will likely neither help nor hurt. While some universities do look at AP scores for admissions purposes, many do not take them into consider and only use them for class placement and/or credit once you’ve been accepted. For those colleges that do take them into consideration, 5s and 4s will help, 3s are fairly neutral. It likely will not matter much if at all if you include them or not.
No need to report self study…and certainly not 3s as no Ivies accept them. In fact, no need to self study. Taking the class is what matters. They understand if it’s not offered.
At a minimum, see what the school accepts.
It may not hurt you for reporting it but I can’t imagine there’d be a gain.
