Reporting AP Scores

<p>What is primary purpose of reporting AP scores? To exempt college courses? Or use AP scores to further help with college admissions?</p>

<p>I am an IB student who passed some AP exams (scored 3s and 4s), but also did not pass other exams. Should I even report any scores? As colleges will know I did not pass some exams if I report a 3 and do not report other exams’ scores. Additionally, IB scores can be used to exempt college courses as well.</p>

<p>Some schools may consider AP scores just like SAT2 for admission purpose. For most schools, they don’t really use AP scores for admission purpose except for comparing your grades of corresponding AP classes at school. AP scores is mainly for placement and/or college credit purpose. It is only self report on CommonApp meaning it is not compulsory.</p>
