Reputable, prestigious colleges on a beach?

UC San Diego is about 5 minutes from a very nice public beach.

Pepperdine!

New College of Florida and Eckerd College are on the waterfront of the Gulf of Mexico.

Northwestern is great for this. Don’t know if you’ve ever visited, but Evanston has many beaches.

Northwestern is also right by a rock beach. The only downside would be that the beaches are not very usable in the winter, though thats probably true for most of the northeast coast schools as well.

UC Santa Barbara, and University of Hawaii Manoa

UMiami, UCSB, UCSD, Pepperdine are the only top 50 schools that are less than a mile from the beach. All are great schools.

Except that Pepperdine isn’t in the US News top 50. And U Miami is more than a mile from the beach. I think the part about UCSB and UCSD is pretty accurate, though.

Pepperdine is ranked 53. Close enough.

Define beach…because Northwestern is definitely on the beach PLUS a top 50 school.

If you take 30 minutes to drive from Cal to the ocean, you must be driving about 5 miles an hour. The city of Berkeley fronts on San Francisco Bay.

DePaul’s business school is only a mile two from Lake Michigan. Not sure how far the Lincoln Park campus is, but it cannot be too far away. There are some great beaches along the Lake. Three weekends ago we spent a few hours at the Oak Street Beach, which is at the top of North Michigan Ave. [Oak Street Beach, Chicago parks-gardens-sightseeing from Chicago Traveler](Oak Street Beach)

Good point. DePaul’s main (Lincoln Park) campus is about 3/4 of a mile down Fullerton Avenue from one of the nicest beaches in Chicago.

A little further north, Loyola’s main (Rogers Park) campus is right on Lake Michigan, with a very nice beach immediately adjacent to the north end of campus.

OP, do yourself a favor… DO NOT consider Yale for its fairly close proximity to a beach… trust me! I was born/raised here in New Haven and Lighthouse Beach + West Haven Beach are much to be deisired… the water is filhty d/t the water treatment facility that is close by… nothing special… no waves, and both beaches are in a harbor…and I just found out that there was an oil spill which only adds to the sounds grossness. From what I understand, the beaches in RI are far better… as they are not blocked by Long Island sound like we are…

Brown isn’t too far from the beach. Also, Bowdoin is very close to the beach.

Any college in NYC is a subway ride away from a beach.

How about UC at Santa Cruz ,CA ? Really beautiful !

Penn is about an hour away from Atlantic City…

Aside from beaches in Evanston and along the rest of the Northshore, Northwestern has its own private beach.
