Hello everyone!

A little background info… I’m a civil engineering undergrad with an interest in land use planning. I had wanted to attend a dual JD/MURP program but decided that for financial reasons I would work on the masters first and then the JD later. I had some big health issues in the fall during application time and applied to places that I felt comfortable with and not really places that were overly competitive. Good or bad… that’s what happened.

I’ve been accepted at the following schools:

Clemson University
Virginia Tech
University of Florida
Rutgers

and I’m still waiting on the University of Delaware.

I know that Rutgers has a pretty great reputation in the field but I have no idea about the others. My intention is not to become a professional planner and I would still like to continue on to law school. With this in mind, it seems like a good idea to go to the school with the best overall reputation(not just the department).

So how are these schools in terms of overall grad school reputation?

I really like University of Florida but their program isn’t that strong. However, they’re ranked quite well overall. I received tuition and a stipend from Florida as well which makes it quite affordable.

Sooo… I’m looking for some guidance. I know that department reputation is generally very important for graduate school but I feel like I need to consider more.

Thanks!
