I’m a student from Virginia and I was wondering what the local reputation of UTC is? What is it primarily know for and what do you think of their academic programs? I’m considering UVA and the like here in VA and the only reason I’m applying to University Tennessee Chattanooga is because I have family nearby. I’m concerned that it may not provide me with the academic rigor that I’m looking for.
First of all you will be charged the OOS rate. Are your parents ok with that?
Yes and no. My grandparents will support me quite a bit if I attend a school in TN, but I don’t know much about any of the schools there besides Vanderbilt.
Your grandparents will pay the full cost for you to attend a TN college at the OOS rate? Is that what you are saying?
UTC is roughly at the same academic level as Virginia Commonwealth which is several steps below UVA. If you are shooting for a UVA level school, you will probably not be happy at UTC.
What school in TN would be comparable to UVA?
Not the full cost, but they’ll pay the difference between OOS and in state to make it easier for me
Vanderbilt would be the nearest.
Sewanee has has a similar feel, although it is much smaller.
