Many high schools have a police liaison officer who works full-time with the student body and the administration to combat
drugs, violence, and other criminal issues within the school buildings. Supporters of the liaison program feel that
the officers are beneficial as an active crime deterrent and first response to incidents within the schools. Opponents say
a single officer in each building cannot effectively manage crime in the schools and that police resources are better
spent in neighborhoods with more pressing needs.

Homo-sapiens are by nature a very curious race. We tend to try new things because we get fascinated by them quickly. This nature of homo-sapiens has lead to new inventions and revolutions in every field. We have advanced so much in every field due to this fact. In the 21st century, we have almost everything at our disposal. As we grow, we tend to join the “mainstream fashion” of the world. In every high school we always know about the presence of a few kids who are drug addicts or really violent or those who bully others. That is why I believe we require a police liaison in every high school to keep the drug rackets and kids who bully others in check.
These days, high school kids like to experiment with different type of drugs, and do not realise about the harm they cause to themselves in taking drugs. They believe that a moment’s fun is more important and are unable to judge how the drugs are causing a stir in their body. Police liaisons are required during such times as it is indeed a serious matter and they may not be able to find out all the drug rackets quickly on their own but they can take out all of them in a matter of time. I believe that the student body should cooperate in such a feat and should help the police liaison in taking out the drug addicted students for their own good.
In the news, almost every other week, we hear about a student who has committed suicide or his mental condition has greatly declined, all because of a bullying. Now, bullying is a very serious matter and should be the utmost priority of the high school and police liaison, and should be eradicated as soon as possible. Bullying can be a disaster for an able student who could start losing marks in school which could lead to an emotional breakdown. Police liaison can help apprehend such bullies easily and the student who undergoes bullying could tell the police liaison about the bullies and the student could remain under the protection of law.
A police liaison also helps stopping fights in a school and keeps in check of other criminal activities; thus, effectively keeping in check of the violent students. A high school is a major part of the neighbourhood. Thus, I believe that a police liaison, who works full-time with the student and the administration to combat drugs, violence and other criminal issues within the school building, is extremely essential in a school building at all times.
