I am applying to Carleton University at Early Decision, the deadline being November 15th. In addition, I am applying to Alvernia University and a few other colleges. I’d be thrilled to hear any feedback you could give me that would make my application essay stronger for these colleges.
I am an international student coming from Rwanda, and as an applicant outside of the U.S., I want to make certain that this personal statement communicates my experiences and background to the admissions committee.
Primarily, I seek help to get constructive feedback regarding clarity, structure, and overall impact of the essay. I want to make sure my story is engaging, fits the prompt, and highlights my unique strengths. I would be grateful for any suggestions on how to improve my essay in its overall flow and appeal.
I would highly appreciate it if the feedback could come by October 18th, which would give me sufficient time to revise and edit my essay before the final submission date on November 15th.
The prompt for my essay is as follows:
Please reflect upon an experience or period of your life when you felt challenged, experienced a setback, or failed at something. How did you feel, and what did you learn from this experience?
The word count for the essay is 650 words.
As this is my first time posting essay review requests on College Confidential, I have not worked with any CC readers previously. I will welcome anyone who can provide the most constructive feedback. Thank you!
