Required freshman essay?

<p>Hey guys,
I know we’ve got the Zeitoun book to read, but,
Is it true we’ve got to write an essay about our learning skills/reading abilities before we get to school, or else we won’t be allowed to take classes?</p>

<p>I’m not taking the freshman writing course until second semester, does that mean I don’t have to do it until second semester?</p>

<p>Very confused. I’m in the College of Science if it helps.</p>
