Requirements for Pre-med Lab components

All,

I have noticed that IU’s Biology (L112 & L211) has only one semester of lab component (L113). The same is true for Org Chem (one lab C343 for C341 & C342). Most medical schools require one year of lab for both Biology and Org Chem. What kind of trouble would that cause? I did notice that there are higher level of lab electives for both Biology and Chemistry. Would these higher level lab sessions be able to offset the deficient lab credits? This may become a big issue. Please help if you have any insights.

Thanks

I did some more digging. The Org Chem has a lab (344) if the student would like to take it. Biology L111 (Intro to Bio-Evolution & Diversity) has a lab component even though it is not likely to help your MCAT. I am not sure about the higher level lab electives. It may be possible to take those rather than the L111 lab. The pre-med advisor would know better. There should be ways to satisfy the lab requirements.
