Res Hall bathroom protocol

Probably some stupid questions in here that I’ll learn for myself when I move in, but I’ve been really curious about how exactly showering/changing clothes works in the communal bathrooms in general.

How big are the showers themselves and how much privacy is there with them? Where do you dry/get dressed? Do most people go back to their rooms or is there an area in the bathroom to get dressed? If you get dressed in the bathroom, where do you keep your clothes while showering to prevent them from getting wet?

If it matters, I’m a male living in Dykstra.

Inside each bathroom there’s about 5 shower stalls, and in each shower stall there is an antechamber that is big enough for you to turn around in and move freely enough to get dressed. You can shower behind a curtain, then go back out to the individual chamber where your towel and clothes are and dry off and dress there. If I feel like it tomorrow morning I’ll do a paint drawing of this.

The shower stalls dinoian is referring to are only in Sproul, where they have shower stalls and connected “changing” stalls. The dykstra ones aren’t as luxurious.

I lived in dykstra my first year, and the stalls are about 4x4ft; not very big. You just hang your towel on the door, and clothes on an area that’s in the same room with all the stalls. Remember to bring a pair of shower flip flops too - trust me, you don’t want to be walking around barefoot there.

How do people usually bring all their stuff from their rooms to the communal bathrooms and vice versa? I’m a guy, and lugging those shower caddies/totes (whatever they’re called) looks kind of ridiculous.

Also, are bath robes popular in the res. halls?

most guys carry around caddies; it’s not weird/ridiculous (just don’t get a huge one). you obviously need some way to get your shampoo/soap to and from your room. bath robes are fine too, and easier since you don’t have to carry your clothes to the shower.

uhh is it weird to just walk around in boxers? lol I don’t like the heat and I was hoping the people were just cool about that.

people from my dykstra floor do that all the time. depends on you, though. if you’re comfortable with being half naked with girls around then go ahead.
