Rescinded Admission

I am a AA/HS student and I currently have a 3.1/3.7 Unweighted/Weighted GPA in HS with a 2.95 unweighted in College. I have scored a 32 composite score on my ACT with:

34 in Science
33 in Math
32 in Reading
26 in English

This semester I am taking US History II, East-West Humanities, Elementary Spanish II, Ethics, and Calculus I. I was recently sick with the flu for 2 weeks (and I have documentation) right before a major test in my Calculus I class and I believe there is now a serious chance of me failing the class due to my absences snowballing and me being very behind. I was wondering what the chances would be of me having my application revoked from USF. I am a core class heavy student and I have not taken any electives so far in the past 2 years since being enrolled in the AA/HS program and have been taking very heavy math and science courses. Any advice?

USF could rescind its admission offer or put you on academic probation if your school work drops to a level not consistent with your previous academic history and USF’s admissions criteria. D’s and F’s can cause problems. If you are concerned about your grades call admissions at 813 974 3350 right away. Good luck!

I called and they gave me a generic answer saying since its a core class that it is possible, but that I need to make sure my post-secondary GPA stays above 2.5 at all times. They would not go into specifics or scenarios though, and they did not ask me for my information so basically my call was anonymous. What do I do?

Get the best grade you can in your calc class. Have a prayer meeting with your calc instructor and figure out a way to pass the course; ask if you can get some extra credit, retake tests you did poorly on, etc. Begging might help too! I remember that 2.5 GPA threshold now for dual enrollment courses, USF doesn’t like to see dual enrollment GPA’s less than 2.5. It’d be difficult to pin an admission advisor to guarantee anything over the phone related to the rescinding bit, just do whatever you can to get a passing grade. Likely an F won’t keep you out, but no one is going to guarantee it, including me. If you are close to getting an AA with a 2.95 GPA, an F in calc shouldn’t pull you GPA down below 2.5. You want to avoid getting an F anyway because it will stay on your permanent college transcript and F’s never look good. Again, Good luck!

I will try, but I doubt the Calc teacher will help, hes a very strict teacher. Honestly though what do you guys think the chances are that my acceptance will be rescinded if I do receive an F?

I would do what Lizard says but have a back up school just in case it does happen I guess
