Resetting The Clocks

After years of having to look up how to reset my car clock, and driving around for a week or two without doing it, my 2021 CRV that I got two years ago resets itself! Had to reset bedroom night stand clock, one wall clock, stove, microwave. And we finally found someone to fix my grandfather’s grandfather clock that I inherited when my mom died and we sold her house. The chimes broke when we moved it and we tried periodically to find someone to fix it but got unreturned calls, someone who had gotten sick and wasn’t working, someone who had died. Finally my H met someone at his volunteer job who had to go home because his clock guy was coming. H got the contact info. He’s a youngish guy who learned from his father. He finished working on it last week. So today I stopped the pendulum for exactly an hour and then restarted it so I didn’t have to mess with moving the hands.

Thank goodness my current car updates the new time automatically. That was a twice yearly PITA with my previous cars.

Everything else is done except one wall clock that needs to be taken down…and done. Not a crisis. It will get done eventually.

One at headboard, one at intercom (still connected to the main doorbell but the rest of the intercoms are gone), microwave/oven, a second microwave in “terrace” kitchenette, coffeepot, air fryer and there is an old manual “push the hands with your finger” battery clock in the terrace level if it even still works (haven’t done those downstairs yet)

Our new main floor thermostat clock reset itself. The one upstairs (which is getting replaced this week) doesn’t have that option so DH had to reset that. Ditto with the things that turn on a light, and our kitty’s heating pads…on a schedule.

I haven’t done them yet. Oven, microwave, a mantle clock. The forgotten ones are the thermostat, the recirculating pump, the spa heater. We have three cars but normally drive just two on a regular basis so the one car we often forget.
We are lucky that our dog sleeps as late as we do. His stomach clock for his dinner has always been off. He starts begging for his dinner around 1 pm.

Stove, alarm clock, clock radio, programmable thermostat, light timers (2), watches (2), car clock and bonus chore! replace batteries in smoke/co detectors.

For the most part, I don’t change my behavior in response to DLS. I woke up an the same time after sunrise today, as I did yesterday. I eat meals at the same times after sunrise today, as I did yesterday. I walked my dog same time after sunrise today as I did yesterday, and plan to take her to fields for seeing friends with ChuckIt at same time before sunset as I did yesterday.

To facilitate above including waking up at same time after sunrise as yesterday, I didn’t change the time on the clock by my bed. I will change it at some point in the future, as I the specific clock time of different events becomes more familiar to me. The other clocks within my home all change automatically.

Fingers crossed that zoom & other apps correctly adjust meeting times. Our HI clocks are the same but more places change theirs.

No clock changes for me. Most are automagically changed (including my alarm clock, where once accidentally did the prior night - got double time change  My husband handled the others. while I was at church.

I had to reset the mechanical watch I’ve been wearing, the kitchen clock, oven clock, and a mechanical mantle clock. My G-Shock watch and Apple Watch adjust themselves. I’ll set my other quartz watches, and the mechanical watches in the safe the next time I wear them.

Two wall clocks, two alarm clocks, ancient microwave, ancient landlord stove. I needed a pliers to pull out the stem of my Bulova wristwatch in order to change it.

I used to love the fall change because my kid was a terrible sleeper (until high school!) and I thought, maybe THIS is the year she’ll fall asleep an hour earlier. Alas, no.

Our alarm clock that I purchased around 15 years ago does it automatically, but at this point weeks either before or after, so right now it’s unreliable.

I have a couple of “atomic clocks” that are supposed to adjust themselves, but have been iffy about it over the years. I finally did a little googling and learned that they get the signal from somewhere in Colorado, and for best results, the back of the clock should be on an outside wall, facing Colorado. So some years, I’ve had to put them in an appropriate window overnight. This year, though, they picked up the time change without help from me. I guess the atmospheric conditions were just right this year.

I disabled the microwave clock. No need to reset. Just one to reset, the old-fashioned wall clock.

LOL - I (as implied by my screen name) live in Colorado. We are about half way between where the official NIST clock resides (Boulder) and the location where it is broadcast (Fort Collins). We are good on the alarm clock. But now realizing that my watch worn to church, while husband was doing the time change chores, still needs to be reset - clearly I did not refererence it this morn.

Two clocks in kitchen to reset - one on the microwave, the other on the range. Also have a wall clock, but no need to reset b/c we never bothered to spring it forward last spring .

Also have a clock in our bedroom that I had to reset.

I assume my car clock will reset itself but I didn’t notice the time when I was driving it earlier today. I’m driving to the airport later tonight so I will look at it then.

I wish I could reset my dog’s body clock - she was pestering us for her dinner an hour early tonight (we could set our clocks by her - she always knows exactly when it’s dinner time and starts pestering us!).
