I bought TwinXL sheet and 3 inches of mattress topper. Now I am wondering whether TwinXL sheet will fit with mattress+3-in of topper. Anyone has experience or suggestions?
Thanks.

RHL beddings - DON’T!! Very POOR quality. Go to Walmart, Target, Bed/bath/Beyond etc. For the extra 30 dollars - you will be happier. The comforter is paper thin; the sheets shank and the edges unraveled (after 1 wash). I did not do my homework. DON’T unless you’re into giving away money…

I cannot believe this company is still in business! The threads on the sheets fell apart on first wash. I could see through the towels, the fiber in the comforter curled up after first wash and the pillows felt like they were stuffed with styrofoam! The ONLY thing that was good was the bath slippers! What a complete waste of money, time and energy! I had to buy EVERYTHING all over again and at the last minute! Great concept but exceptionally POOR QUALITY OVERALL!!! Very disappointed!!

(MaryMac15535’s mom here) We didn’t bother with the RHL package deal for our oldest son (we were driving him down to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and I thought I could match or beat RHL’s prices at local stores like Shopko & JCPenney). My daughter, however, would like to go to a college on the East Coast next year, and will probably have to fly out there by herself - so anything that can be delivered directly to her dorm room & be waiting for her on move-in day would be a big help for us. I’m concerned about all the negative reviews I’ve seen for RHL, but I still would like the convenience; maybe paying extra for the nicer-quality sheets would be worth it?
Can’t make any detailed plans for dorm linens until our daughter gets accepted by a college, though - so we’ll know if RHL (or some other company) partners with the school in question, or what our other options might be for that particular school.

It’s easy to order online from Bed Bath and Beyond or JC Penney and have the items delivered to the school well in advance of her arrival date. She’d just have to stop at the college’s package pick-up site, but I assume you’ll be shipping her clothes, so she’ll need to do that anyway. Unless this is an enormous campus that hard to navigate, I don’t think having linens delivered directly to the room is a good enough reason to buy a pig in a poke. JMHO.

Bottom line-how did they hold up after washing and use.You seem to be the only one that liked them.Did the sheets fall apart at the seams like everyone else said? Could it just be the washer and dryers on campus are more heavier duty then the ones we have at home and maybe are causing the product to fall apart. My son isn’t very picky and showing him the website and saying to him pick out a pattern you like was a lot easier then taking him shopping.I was panning on ordering The Varsity Collection but I am getting second thoughts. Also are there any recent reviews besides ones from 5 years ago? Yours seemed to be more recent than anyone else. Thanks for you help.I’m a first time mom of freshman and getting overwhelmed with the whole college thing.Bottom line---- to buy or not to buy.

“did they hold up after washing and use?”

That gave me a laugh. I have sent two sons off to college (both now graduated).
Believe me when I say nobody’s SON is going to wear out the sheets from washing them! S1 threw his sheets away at the end of freshman year because he never washed them. S2 washed his every couple of months…maybe. You may think your S will wash his sheets every couple of weeks but based on all the college males/roommates we know, chances are slim.

Boys really don’t care about that stuff nearly so much as girls. I bought all the bedding and everything else for my boys. They had zero interest in shopping for dorm stuff with the exception of S1 requesting a loft for his bed and a rug for the cold tile floor. They could not have cared less about the pattern on the sheets (I bought them solid colors). Oh,btw they each only had one set of sheets. One is enough.

Watch for local sales throughout the summer so you can actually see what you’re buying or order from a reputable company. The Mom of S1’s roommate ordered it all from Lands End.
It’s not as overwhelming as you might think.

My D & I recently purchased RHL’s new Varsity Collection (similar to the Complete Campus Collection, but adds a 2nd “underbed storage solution”, a clip light & clip fan). We had also been considering Dormco’s $200 package deal, which would have been cheaper, included more towels, and offered more choices for most of the included items; however, their comforters were all reversible solid colors only, and RHL offered various patterns as well for their comforters. The quality (so far) seems comparable to what my D & I would otherwise have chosen at Walmart or Target, and I liked the convenience of getting it all at once.
3 years ago, when my son was an incoming freshman, I passed on the RHL promo flyer from his college which offered free delivery to his dorm room (D’s college doesn’t have a similar deal, though ). I thought at the time that I could match/beat RHL’s prices; I probably matched them, but only because my son didn’t want/need a lot of the stuff in the RHL package. My son is better about laundry than PackMom’s lads, but showed about the same minimal level of interest in dorm shopping. (So my D has to put up with a lot of Mom’s pent-up dorm-shopping lust!
)

We purchased the varsity collection for DS. I went with the higher count sheet though. DS is not picky about sheets/comforters. Honestly he sleeps in a sleeping bag now. lol.
So while the quality of the stuff may not be what someone could find at a better dept. store it looks like it will do for him.

Target and Kohl’s will also start having inexpensive dorm stuff. I bought one of my kids some t-shirt sheets at Target in September and they were soft and very inexpensive, so if you have a rising HS senior, shop the fall sales!

DO NOT ORDER FROM RESIDENCE HALL LINENS …MY DAUGHTER ORDER THEIR VARISTY COLLECTION AND PAID FOR THE COUNT UPGRADE EXTRA AND STILL WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCT,IN ONE WORD CHEAP…AND NOW WE ARE HAVING TO PAID TO RETURN IT OURSELVES …DO NOT ORDER …

We are having the same issue with Residence Hall Linens. We upgraded to the 300 thread count 100% cotton sheets. The quality is horrible. It took me 3 washes to lessen the strong chemical smell and then the sheets had a tie-dyed look to them. The plaid set is printed on one side and even after 3 washes has the same flexibility and texture as newspaper. The pillows are covered in very thin fabric (?). They are filled with the cheapest of fiberfill. I think the towels might be OK, but they shed like mad. Don’t make the mistake of washing them with other towels. They leave little lint balls all over everything. I called & told them I was returning the entire package for a refund. They agreed. After I shipped it, I got a message on my phone saying I could only make a partial return of the sheets & comforter but had to pay for everything else. I can’t wait to see how this plays out.

DONT BUY FROM RHL - Read about my bad experience.
I just want to inform parents that I have had a very bad experience with Residence Hall Linens. It seemed like a great idea to order online, but their quality and service is nothing short of abysmal. Way back in the first week of August we received a defective comforter (with discoloration and loose threads), and even though they said they would send a return label, they did not do that. So we returned it at our own expense, and they took more than a month to replace the comforter, even after my several phone calls and emails. I am still waiting for my refund on the shipping expense (which I was assured will be given by October 3rd!). The worst part is that they simply do not acknowledge any fault on their end. One of the agents even told me that ‘this was a busy time for them, hence they are backed up’, Really? If you are in this business, this is the busiest time of the year, and they didn’t gear up for that? I had to send my order number and copies of my fedex label about 3 times to different email addresses before they even acknowledged receiving it.

I’ve never understood why anyone would order something as easily available as linens and towels from a company that is paying the school for access to its mailing list. It’s just as easy to order from any one of numerous online vendors (whose products are reviewed right on their websites) and have the items delivered right to the dorm. And there’s more variety! RHL may have made sense years ago when extra long bedding was hard to find and online shopping didn’t exist, but it’s long outlived its usefulness.

I ordered my daughter the complete campus value pak back in June 2016. Since then, I called the company and ask for a refund since the package went on special. They agreed to refund me about 67 dollars. The first phone call was 8/3 to be credited 7-10 business days. 10/12 STILL NO REFUND!!! A lot of running around excuses… VERY DISSATISFIED!!! WILL NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN…
DS13 has been using his set since Aug 2013… while the quality isn’t the greatest it has stood up pretty well. However I will be buying DS17’s stuff elsewhere.
My kids wanted to touch the sheets they were buying before buying them, and then washed them twice. We got ours at Bed Bath Beyond
http://www.ocm.com - anyone have experience with this site for ordering sheets and other stuff ?
Unless there is some compelling reason to order from one of these companies (like your kid is coming from a foreign country), then really…anything you can get from them, you can get for less cost, and better quality, with more variation in color choices…at Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, Walmart…or online at Amazon.
They all ship.
Thanks
