I was born in California and my entire family lives there. I spent the academic year 2009/2010 as an au pair abroad to learn a foreign language. I went home for 3 months afterwards but decided to go back to the country I was in to try to study. I realized I didn’t want to stay any longer after trying things out for two months. I’m still in the country simply because living costs are lower here, and I have to support myself. Technically, I’ve been in the country for two of the last three years. I’ve still filed my taxes every year in CA and have a driver’s license and voter registration. Am I still classified as a California resident for the SIR/SLR forms, or might I be classified as a non-resident?

If anybody has an idea, let me know. I’m just looking for some confirmation of my California resident status.
