Residential College Affiliation

I saw this on the Yale housing site:

Affiliation with a residential college is determined by lot. The only exception that can be made is for a student who wishes to be affiliated with a residential college of which a member of the immediate family (i.e., parent or sibling) has been or is a member. Such a freshman may request that affiliation on the online housing form. Conversely, if a brother or sister is already living in one of the residential colleges and the freshman prefers not to be affiliated with the same college, that request may also be made. In either case, the basis for the request should be made clear: e.g., “My father was a member of that college” or “I do not wish to be assigned to this college because my sister lives there.” Any other request for a specific residential college affiliation cannot be considered.

Is the same true at Princeton?

I know students here who are twins that request to be roommates/live close together, thus putting them in the same residential college. I guess the same kind of request could be made for not living together too.

But overall, the residential college system at Princeton isn’t quite the same as it is at Yale. This is because most people leave the residential colleges after sophomore year to join eating clubs/live in upperclassmen housing. So the residential college system is as strong as it is at Yale.
