Residential Colleges

After doing a lot of research on the internet I can say I am honestly scared. I live in Utah and I was planning on going to Utah State University. After reading reviews of USU I have completely changed my mind. I read that most students are Mormon [Duh] and that closemindedness is a common theme. And that social life is low. Being a non-mormon Athiest does not help in the least bit. This is why I am asking for a list of colleges with the specification: [P.s. Undergradute Colleges]

Residential: 50-70 percent of students live in campus
Students are not closeminded [No religious schools please]
[I believe that this would increase social life, am I correct?]

Academics: Good to Great departments for the Sciences and Political Science

Cost: My scholarships will handle for 10-15K so I can’t afford places like American University

Thanks!!!

Could you post your GPA and ACT/SAT scores to give us an idea of where you could get in?
Most schools in the big ten conference fit your criteria. U Mich and UW-Madison are strong in sciences and politics, as are Ohio State and Michigan State (MSU has a small residential college in politics, as well as one in natural science - James Madison and Lyman Briggs). If you want to focus on science, Penn State could be a great choice.
As far as a “residential” campus, just make sure you find a school that isn’t a commuter school or “suitcase” school - the actual % living on campus doesn’t really matter, as most people prefer to move into local apartments as upperclassmen. Take UW-madison as an example, it’s one of the best college towns in the nation, but only 25% overall live in college housing.

Thanks for replying.

GPA: 3.5 Unweighed [Utah has horrible grade inflation]
ACT: 28
SAT: Still arriving
AP test: 8 Classes 11 Test.
Still a Senior in HS so passed 4 AP so far.

I can answer any more questions! I appreciate all help!
