High school junior D2 is going to start taking Statistics next semester at her high school. It’s a very small school, and even though there is individualized math curriculum, D2 will need to be willing to do a fair bit of work independently and have an outside tutor. Her teacher at school will be able to answer questions, but won’t have the classroom time to give her instruction. This is not a highly academic school, though they do have a few students who do go through Calculus or Stat. And though D2 isn’t, uhm, an ardent math fan  she much much much prefers this option to trig. She also likes how this option will open up her senior year schedule and give her more flexibility towards early dismissal during the school year.

So, I’m starting the hunt for resources that will help make this possible, including resources she could access during her class time (though I’ve not found out if she’ll be able to use online resources during classtime). Khan Academy, yes. Online high school courses like Florida Virtual School and Keystone School. Since her high school will be granting credit, I’m not concerned about her actually receiving credit from these schools, just that she has a resource for questions and presentation of material.

Any suggestions from the hive mind?
