Response for Mass emails

Hello,
I’m a junior hoping to be recruited for swimming.
I filled out some questionaires and starting getting mass emails

Sorry, the rest cut off for some reason.
Mass emails like:
Hi my name,
We’re going to - meet next week!
What meets do you have coming up?

Am I supposed to respond to these? If yes, should I just answer the question and wish them luck, or should I add a question or something to initiate a conversation?
Thanks for the help!

Here is the general order:

Fill out recruiting questionnaire - This gets you in their system
Send an intro email to the coach - Basic intro paragraph, then list your best times and academic stats, and then a closing paragraph about how you like the school. They get a lot of emails, so don’t get wordy and make your stats obvious.
Send email(s) with updates - Update grades, times, and maybe upcoming meets.

What type of questionnaires?

Emails from whom?

Hard to answer without that info.

I assumed the question was about recruiting questionnaires and emails from programs…

I think alwaysmoving covered it pretty well. The intro email at some point after filling out the questionnaire is important in my opinion. It’s a chance to tell your story (briefly) and especially crucial for coaches who don’t use the database much or well.

I’d just add that if you have a specific question you’re more likely to get a reply from the coach if you initiate a new email chain rather than replying to the mass email. A lot of those replies just don’t get read. For the same reason, sending your own email with updates can be more effective. Good luck!

Thanks for all the responses!

As for this, politeperson is answered it, but to be more specific, recruiting questionnaires for swimming and mass mails from some schools in the UAA league (D3) and the Ivy league (D1).

Although I got in touch with some schools, I’ve never sent a follow-up email so I might get the attention of the other few that I filled out the questionnaire for if I send those mails.

I’ll try sending some mails soon and see if I get any responses.

Make sure to send the emails to the head coach, as well as all assistant coaches…it’s not uncommon that an assistant coach spearheads recruiting, at least initially.

Good luck.

Thanks for the heads up,
I’ll make sure to cc all of the assistant coaches!
