restaurant in Lower Manhattan/Battery Park area?

My D will be flying in to New York City for a corporate event this week. We’d like to meet her for dinner near her hotel–the Conrad on North End Ave. We don’t want to spend a fortune (and there will be others joining us on our tab). Can anyone suggest a restaurant which isn’t quite as expensive for us 90%ers?

Take a look at the online menu of Harry’s Italian Pizza Bar, on Gold Street in the Financial District: pasta, meats, salads, pizza, with good reviews.

Do you mean walking distance from the hotel? Take a look at Open Table, too.

Yes, within walking distance would be nice, though we will have a car that needs to be parked somewhere–either near or at the hotel, or at the restaurant.

The recent reviews I just read for Harry’s were not favorable. It seems the reviews when it first opened were very good–maybe it declined? One person recommended the Italian place across the street instead, which I guess would be Giordano D’Oro.

Oh, that’s an interesting development re poor reviews, thanks for sharing the updates. We’ll try the other place, next time.

Blue Smoke recently opened an outpost right there.

What about dinner in Chinatown. You could park at the Chatham apartment parking lot (2 blocks from Mott St). Ping at 22 Mott is pretty good. You could make a reservation for a large table. Every time we go to NYC, we still make a point of having a dinner down in Chinatown.

I also like the Tribeca Grill. We used to go there quite a bit when we lived down at Battery Park.
