Any recommendations for a nice meal?

Just have to ask- where is this place with the cool name?!

Abasket–Lake Winnipesaukee is in New Hampshire.

My D went to a NH girl’s camp every year for 13 years–she was a camper, CIT, Counselor, waterfront director, etc. etc. The camp is fairly close to the town of Meredith–which is on Winnipesaukee. There’s a place in Meredith called Mill Falls–it’s a complex with an inn, spa, and a number of restaurants. We’ve had meals at several of them and they were good. D has a July birthday and was usually at camp for it. When she was a counselor, she’s try to get that day off, and we’d meet her in Portsmouth and take her out to dinner for her birthday. There are some excellent restaurants in Portsmouth, NH.

Portsmouth is a cool place but one would have to drive 1-1.5 hours there another 1-1.5 hours back.

I’d also say that if you want to look at the restaurants around the Inn at Mill Falls, that would be good. I think 2 of them are “Common Man” run, including Camp. CM is a NH chain. Meredith itself isn’t much of a place.

There isn’t much of anything on the north side of the lake. Wolfeboro is the more actual village-shopping area and has more choices.

The lake is big but the drive times aren’t that long.

Hart’s Turkey Farm is certainly popular, but I’ve eaten there twice and was not impressed. Food OK, but terrible service due to the gigantic size of the place. Seems there for the tourists.

Thank you everyone. We’ve been to the Mill restaurants and were looking for something different. We’re going to try Canoe tonight. It has a 4 star rating. I’ll keep you posted. Especially for Abasket, who now HAS to go to the Lake Winnepesauke area at some point. :)

Close to Meredith is Holderness and Squam Lake, “Of Golden Pond” fame. There used to be a lovely restaurant, the Holderness Inn but not certain if still there. We are heading up next weekend to our favorite family vacation place, Waterville Valley where younger d is performing in Shakespeare in the Valley.

Common Man restaurants can be found in several locations and they are good choices. There are restaurants in Plymouth, Campton and WV, but none that are truly outstanding since the owner of The William Tell in Campton retired and sold the place.

Just the name sounds like a little piece of outdoor heaven. :)

I had a very nice meal at the [Six Burner Bistro](http://www.sixburnerbistro.com/) in downtown Plymouth.

I’m looking for restaurants in North Woodstock and Lincoln. Probably try the Common Man one night.

Sadly we are not known for culinary genius here in the Lakes Region. However we have had very nice dining experiences at Mise En Place and great burgers at The Restaurant 03816. The Wolfetrap in Back Bay has well prepared traditional New England seafood. these are all in Wolfeboro. Lemongrass in Moultonboro has very good sushi and outrageously fun martinis.

We really like Fratello’s in Laconia.

Tavern 27 in Laconia is excellent. I forget about it because it exactly opposite from us on the lake. If you will be in a boat, make sure you stop in at Akwa Bar and Grille or come by Wingate Cove, I will be grilling tonight!
