Do we have an “Official EA 2016 results thread” yet?

I made one :D

Sweet! Thanks :)

Does everyone have financial aid information on their UChicago account? Because mine just got added the other day, but I assume everyone has this…

What does “financial aid information” mean?

It asks for parents tax returns

Sent from my DROIDX using CC App

If I understand correctly, you’re talking about either a “financial aid” tab appearing, or a “financial aid” section appearing with several red x marks.

If you have green checks, all is fine and good, if not then you need to turn in your CSS profile to UChicago and have your parents fax their tax return forms (and whatever else they ask for) to the admissions office. You can find that number on their site.

As the deadline for this was November 1st, you likely won’t receive an aid decision by the time results come out on Monday. The reason for the early deadline is so that the aid office can process all of the requests and sent out aid packages with decisions. However, applying for aid has no bearing on your acceptance to UChicago, so don’t worry about that.

Random question, does the financial aid office examine everyone’s forms and estimate financial aid for everyone (and then obviously only send out to accepted students), or do they get forwarded the information of only accepted students by the admissions department?

I was under the impression that the actual decisions were made a week or so before the release date, and the rest of the time was spend packaging letters and sorting out financial aid. But those are just rumors i’ve heard.

Obviously, only accepted students will receive any information regarding their financial aid packages. Making up aid packages for every student A) would be ridiculous as it would require the financial aid office to whip up 20,000 or so packages, less than 15% of which will actually be used, and B) would be very confusing for the aid office itself as it’s working under a budget and can’t budget if they’re making financial aid decisions for students who won’t be accepted.

^Yes, very true. I’m not sure actually sure when they make their decisions. What I said above, about aid decisions being made in advance, was based on information I received over email from the aid office. They said that late submissions (like early December, oops…) would get aid eventually, but that they might not get it with their results. That led me to think that there is some planing in advance.

More-pertinent-to-the-subject question: For posting results tomorrow, do we just copy and paste the “Official” template, or do we need to do something special so that the code registered? In short, I’m wondering if the online system will parse all of that and display the colors and what not just by pasting as normal.

There are extra spaces in the brackets that have to be deleted. Otherwise, trying to write out the code as is would apply it to the instructions/examples
