Ok. So. I’m assuming you’re familiar with erecruiting at this point. Go there. That’s where you’ll find all of the firms that are recruiting on campus, when their info sessions are, when their resume drop deadlines are, and when their interviews are. Here’s a sort of outline for how things should go.

1) Go to the info session. Wear your business attire, bring your resume, and be prepared to talk/network/ask questions. Have your gameface on here…the only companies I got interviews with were ones whose recruiters I spoke with one on one at info sessions. It’s oftentimes hard bc there are SO many people, but go for it.

2) Drop your resume/cover letter on erecruiting. Basically you just upload your stuff onto the site, go to the position, hit apply, and it sends your stuff along to the employer, who will then determine whether to offer you an interview. A lot of deadlines will be coming up the end of September so hit up the site now. Get your stuff in, go to the career center, and start going to presentations.

**Note. Some employers will have additional things they want you to fill out on their websites, but you can find all this out on erecruiting (I remember BCG having a separate application on their website).

3) After the deadline has passed, you can check erecruiting to see whether you’ve been preselected for an interview with the employer, and then you’ll log onto erecruiting to schedule your day/time. They do fill up fast with overachievers, so to get your ideal spot get on early after the window opens.

4) Go to your interview! (Or, sometimes, go to sweet mixers with all the interviewers/interviewees beforehand too…free food!) First (and sometimes second) rounds are held in the basement of the career center, and it’s a fairly nervewrecking process, so be prepared and don’t freak out. Have a copy of your resume and cover letter on hand for the employer, but most likely they’ll have a copy.

Bottom line. Everything is basically done online, on erecruiting. Drop your resume there officially, but always have copies on hand for the career fair/info sessions as well, in case someone asks.

The Chronicle is also a great source to see who’s going to be on campus when! Now is the season for the finance/consulting firms, so get ready for some awesome cover letter writing sesh’s (although be prepared. last year was TOUGH…I was hard-pressed for an interview and never got an offer…and this year is probably going to be just as tough…so just keep your eye on the prize).

Best of luck to you! Hope you fare better than us 09ers!
