Resume?

Item #7 of the Olin Admission Process under: Admission > Applying to Olin says something about a personal resume with activities, awards, honors… I know that activities is listed on the application, but where would you put the awards and honors they mentioned? Are they telling applicants to send in a resume?

Btw, Olin is a great school/community with outstanding students and professors (Go Zhenya! HAHA).

I know I didn’t send in a separate resume when I applied, but it could have changed since then. I’d suggest emailing admissions: it’s a simple question that they’ll be able to answer with certainty and then you won’t have to worry about it anymore.

You could also post this question on the xforums boards for Olin (google ‘Olin’ ‘xforums’).

I didnt send one in either… hrm… they might have changed something from last year.

My son is a freshman at Olin. When he applied last year he sent an email to the admissions office with a resume because the online application encouraged students to tell the school more about themselves than what the application itself showed. It was useful because he could elaborate more on his activities and awards, and it gave him the opportunity to discuss experiences such as travel. Basically, he just listed each heading: “Awards,” “Activities,” and "Achievements, and then under each heading gave the dates of particiipation and a brief description of what he acomplished or positions that he held. It doesn’t have to be a formal resume. Obviously, based on your responses it wasn’t necessary last year for admission, but I think it helps the admissions office to get a better understanding of who you are. He actually sent the same resume to all of the schools to which he applied and got some favorable responses from several, because the applications sometimes do not allow you to go into much detail. He also listed major achievements in elementary and middle school, which aren’t typically asked for on most applications.

Alright thanks everyone. I sent an email before posting this thread, but I know how most offices are closed until tomorrow, so I came here for a good indication to do it or not, and I think I am going to get something prepared. Thanks!
