Retake a 33 ACT and 2130 SAT?

I’m aiming mainly toward environmental engineering at UCLA, USC, Stanford, Northwestern, or UCSD.

ACT breakdown: 33
English:33
Math:34
Reading:36
Science:29
Writing: Not sure yet but expected to be around a 10.

SAT breakdown: 2130
Critical Reading: 660
Math: 750
Writing:720, 10 essay

The reason I’d like to take either one again is that my science score is below a 30 and my critical reading is below a 700. Should I retake and if so, which one?

i wouldn’t retake either, but if you really want to, retake ACT…

Good luck (=

If you really want Stanford then you’ll need to retake.

Don’t listen to either of the last two responders. No one-I mean NO ONE-can determine whether you need to retake the SAT or ACT for those schools simply by knowing what the scores are and nothing about you as a person. I created this account today because I’ve mostly irritated by this as I see it everywhere.

I’m an asian male currently attending Stanford. What you are really asking is more of a “Chance me” for these schools with this SAT. But no body can give you any feedback without some more information about who YOU are (EC’s, race, hooks, awards etc.) This may sound a little harsh on you, SimplyBMW, but I’m trying to nicely say we need some more info about you and what you do in order to give an appropriate answer. I had similar scores to you (+/- 30 points) only taking the SAT once and got it into most of the schools to which I applied. Numbers aren’t everything in admissions.

If you have any other questions or more info to give  PM me. I’d be happy to tell you about my experiences in applying and such.

I wouldn’t retake. Your 33 ACT is a good score and within range for all your schools. The rest of your application will be the determining factor.

OK. You can pay attention to someone with 1 total post or you can look at the Stanford Common Data Set. [Stanford University: Common Data Set 2011-2012](http://ucomm.stanford.edu/cds/2011.html#admission) Your SAT CR scores is beneath the 25%ile score and your ACT is in the mid 50%. Almost all the people in the bottom 25%ile have a hook (athlete, something else) and that extends to the mid 50%. You need to think about retaking.

Hi, I also got a 33 on my ACT and I am thinking of taking the SAT in october. The problem is I am participating in the Pan-American Games for martial arts in october. Is taking the Sat really that important? I’d rather focus on training for Pan American Games and hopefully get like first or something? Oh, and I’ve never taken the SAT… and I’m an incoming senior.

You’re fine for UCLA, UCSD, and most likely USC. Northwestern idk and Stanford doesn’t care for your scores and such as much as other colleges do. Stanford likes to know how great of a person you are, not how high you can score on a test.

No, why would post something like this? Those scores are really good.
