I’d say 33 is good enough for you to get yourself into an Ivy League (Even Harvard if you have EXCELLENT extra curriculars)

A 33 is about a 2250 SAT, so that will be good enough for any Ivy League. If you want to try again, go ahead.

thanks a lot guys.

what are the conversions from act to sat?

there are many charts out there. Here is a simple one.

http://www.spartanburg6.k12.sc.us/dhs/Guidance%20website/SAT-ACT%20Conversion%20chart.html

There are others though that match your ACT to and SAT range.

D also had a 33 ( 32E, 34M, 32R, 35S) first try w/o any specific ACT prep though she had previously prepped for the SAT. Her first time was that last date in June '08. She took it a second time Oct '08 again w/o much in the way of prep but she had recently taken a couple of SAT IIs. Her score went to a 35 (34E, 36M, 36R, 33S).

Now what I would consider, that D did not have to consider, are the various new score reporting policies that apply to the class of '10 on up. I recall that there are new policies regarding SAT reporting but I am unsure about ACT.

Now the new SAT policies for the most part are more flexible (ie allowing selective score reporting) yet colleges are allowed to opt out and require an applicant to report all scores. ACT has previously allowed for selective reporting but what I do not know is whether, in the process of new policy changes, ACT reporting would also be impacted. If any schools now will require you to report every ACT then I would think more carefully about taking it a second time. If there is no change to ACT reporting then I would go for taking it again. What better way to spend a Saturday. :)

Might as well, if money isn’t a huge issue. I tried again for the heck of it and increased by 4 points (my initial score was similar to yours).
