Retake ACT for transfer?

If I plan to apply for transfer from Stony brook to Columbia for sophomore year, would i need to retake my act? I got a 32. I was rejected from the columbia waitlist.
If I maintain a 3.8+ gpa with research and ec’s, would i have a good shot?
My passion is autism. My brother is autistic, and I’ve been doing research with a doctor since sophomore year of high school. Could the autism research at columbia be a compelling enough reason to go there?

Also, people say that many applicants with 3.8+ gpa’s, and 2250+ sat’s are not accepted as transfers. Does this indicate that SAT’sare not that important in transfer admissions, rather passion and ec’s?

The benefits of retaking the ACT after you’ve graduated HS would be marginal to none. Better to focus your efforts on getting straight As at Stony Brook and fine tuning your essays.

As far the research, I think it’s cool but if you aren’t a strong candidate *without * it, it probably won’t factor much into Columbia’s decision unless you’ve been published or anything.

what is consideredcompetitive?
my h.s. stats:
u.w. gpa: 96.8%
valedictorian
11 ap courses
numerous math and science awards
EC: autism research, independent research, co founder of reading workshop for autistic children, school clubs.

Are you supposed to put h.s. awards and e.c’s for sophomore transfer admissions?

Yes, you do include HS ECs/awards on your transfer app.
