Retake or not?

I know that people say that 3 is the magic number, but I have gotten the same composite on all 3 attempts!!! I keep doing better in one subject on each test, but cannot hit all 4 good scores at once. I have a 31 composite so far, and really want to go to UPenn Wharton undergrad. Should I retest and any suggested study methods? The first attempt I read Princeton the second I hired a tutor and for the third I did not study at all.

Test1
Math-27
Science-26
Reading-36
English-34

Test 2
Math-2
science-28
reading-33
english-36

Test3
math-27
science-31
reading-31
english-35

you’re a junior right?

No a senior :frowning: So I would only have December left to take

If your major is non-stem related, then you’re fine.

What do you mean by stem (sorry I’m so clueless!) ? I want to do business at Wharton, concentrate in management with a specialization in entrepreneurship and innovation, hopefully :)

Don’t take it again! Especially if any of your schools require to see all scores, you will seem obsessive.

Also for reference: STEM stands for “science, technology, engineering, and mathematics”

Taking it a fourth time will make you appear a bit excessive, but you will need to show that you have a strong math background in order to be competitive for a business school(especially UPenn). Could you maybe take the SAT Math II test?

My guidance counselor said that you can choose how many tests you send in and even if they require you to send all scores you really do not have to send every score. I am in AP Calculus BC and got a 5 on my AB calc AP exam, do you think that would help enough to show my math skills? I took math 2 and did not do so well (660). Do you think I should take that again? I just do not seem to standardize test well on math because I am great at it in school but do not do stellar on the ACT or subject tests (my math teacher is writing my letter of rec and is surpassed with my ACT scores since I do so well in class).

Only retake if you are willing to devote significant time studying (I’d suggest at least 90 minutes per day, 4 days per week) to improve your math grade.

Since this is the ACT and not the SAT, it won’t really hurt you to retake it again, However, if you are not going to spend a lot of time prepping for it, better to save your time and money.

I agree with @CATDECAL in devoting time to studying and retaking the Math II test, I personally recommend either Barron’s SAT II Math prep book or Dr.Chungs SAT II Math prep book.

Also when they say you have to send all yours scores, send all your scores. There are consequences for those that withhold test scores.

Ok thank you all so much you have been very helpful!!!
